Mrs. Southeast International®

Deborah Flynn

As a spokesperson for the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, Deborah has been working diligently traveling across the Southeast.  Her main focus is on building Character, Leadership, Independence, Motivation, and Betterment with all of the children she speaks to and mentors.  She also teaches a weekly “Smart Girls” program. Her journey began with a local club that was in desperate need of renovation. With a group of co-workers, Deborah has been able to accomplish that and more. She is working with the Our Family for Families First Foundation, and has been able to not only complete painting and renovation of the gym and a meeting room through volunteers and donations, but also at a recent re-dedication ceremony, a $25,000 donation was made to renovate the entire gym floor!

Deborah has recruited tutors, volunteers, and mentors for the Clubs. Through their efforts, they have been able to provide a $40,000 college scholarship to a needy student, two $5,000 grants for women desiring to complete their educations, and multiple laptops for high school seniors to begin college. Deborah recently began working with Zonta International, and assisted with the International Food Festival and Benefit for the Chrysalis Home for Girls. As an advocate for children, her speaking engagements include Boys & Girls Clubs throughout the U.S., the Inter-Service Community Banquet, the Southeast Alabama Child Advocacy Center, Youth Services at military installations, churches, civic organizations, and on television.  She recently received an award from the federal government for her presentation on “Embracing Partnerships” at a professional development seminar in Washington, DC.  Deborah has also been a keynote speaker for the United Way and is thrilled to share her view of what can be accomplished when people work together.
